TOUR PLUS: DRIVING ALONG THE VINEYARDS OF TUSCANY
1st day SIENA
Arrival of the group in Siena and tour of the city. Guided
visit with a wine-expert of the Enoteca Italiana at the Fortezza
Medicea including a wine-tasting. Short walk through the
ancient streets of the city, including the main square “Piazza
del Campo”. Welcome cocktail and dinner at a restaurant
of the centre. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
2nd day “CHIANTI D.O.C.G.”
Breakfast in the hotel. Full day visit to the most famous wine-estates
and castles of the Chianti area. Guided visit to some ancient
cellars and wine-tasting with an expert. In the afternoon
continue along the old “Chiantigiana” road towards
the Florentine hills and stop in Greve in Chianti for some
leisure time. Afterwards guided visit to a famous castle
built in the IX century A. C. including its old wine cellars
and the Renaissance room where a typical dinner will be served.
Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
3rd day “BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO” – “VINO
NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO”
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer by bus to Montalcino and visit
of the medieval town and of one of the most famous wine cellars
producing Brunello. Tour along the vineyards and olive groves.
Guided visit to the wine cellars and wine-tasting of the Brunello.
In the afternoon transfer to Montepulciano and visit to the
cellars producing Vino Nobile. Typical dinner at a restaurant
with “pici” (handmade pasta with sauces). Return
to the hotel for overnight stay.
4th day “VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO”
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to San Gimignano and visit
to the medieval town. Guided visit to a wine cellar in the
historical centre in order to taste the famous white wine
of the area, “Vernaccia di San Gimignano”. Farewell-lunch
at the Wine-bar. Free time for shopping in the narrow streets
of the centre before leaving. Departure of the group.
Possibility to extend the tour by organising cooking classes
of the Sienese cuisine. Either in September or in October it
is possible to organise guided trekking tours along the vineyards
with an agronomist support. Quotations on request.
