TOUR PLUS: OLIVE OIL TOUR
1st day ARRIVAL
Arrival at Florence airport. Transfer by bus to the Sienese
countryside to check-in a charming 3-star-hotel. Welcome
cocktail reception. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
2nd day COOKING CLASS - SIENA
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the cooking school in a
restored farmhouse in the countryside to attend a hands-on
lesson on HOMEMADE PASTA with the preparation of a complete
Tuscan menu. Lunch at the farmhouse and afterwards transfer
to Siena for a guided tour in the historical centre. Some
free time for shopping and return to the hotel for dinner
and overnight stay.
3rd day TOUR OF THE CHIANTI AREA WITH WINE AND OLIVE OIL TASTING
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure with the guide to the tour
of the Chianti. Stop at a famous wine estate and Chianti
wine-tasting together with a sommelier. Light Lunch at the
estate with beautiful views over the surrounding hills. In
the afternoon transfer to a private estate specialising in
the production of olive oil; guided visit to the oil mill
to see how virgin olive oil is pressed, and guided tasting
of different oils. Tuscan style dinner and overnight stay
at the hotel.
4th day COLLE VAL D’ELSA - SAN GIMIGNANO
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Colle Val d’Elsa,
the crystal city, and visit of a crystal factory. Afterwards
continue to San Gimignano, to a wine estate producing the typical
white wine of the area, the Vernaccia di San Gimignano, for
a wine-tasting and light lunch. After lunch transfer to San
Gimignano and meeting with the guide to visit the medieval
town with its famous towers. Some free time for shopping. Return
to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
5th day COOKING CLASS – OLIVE OIL SEMINARY
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the cooking school in a
restored farmhouse in the countryside for a special lesson
on APPETIZERS and MEAT TUSCAN STYLE with preparation of a
complete Tuscan menu. Lunch at the farmhouse and afterwards
transfer to the Chianti area to assist to a seminary upon
the olive oil held by an expert and tasting of the typical ‘bruschetta’ (toasted
bread with garlic and extra virgin olive oil). Return to
the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
6th day PIENZA - S. ANTIMO - MONTALCINO
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Pienza: stop at a farmhouse
to taste the famous Pecorino (sheep cheese). Continue to
Pienza for a guided tour. Continue to S. Antimo to visit
the abbey and then continue to Montalcino to admire the medieval
art of the buildings. Then continue to one of the most famous
wine producing estates for a wine-tasting of the Brunello
di Montalcino. Farewell-Dinner in a characteristic restaurant
of the area. Return to the hotel for the overnight stay.
7th day DEPARTURE
Breakfast in the hotel. Check-out and departure of the group
from Florence airport.
